Music Ministry
Chancel Choir
Consisting primarily of adults, this choir sings various anthems and hymns plus provides leadership for congregational singing during the traditional worship service. Cantatas are presented for the Christmas and Lenten / Easter seasons during the traditional worship service. The chancel choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:00 pm CST in the choir room. During the summer months, the choir continues to participate in the traditional worship service but does not have weekly rehearsals. Persons interested in singing in the choir are invited to join the choir for practice or may contact Bonita Schwab for more information (270)776-1043.
Worship Team
The worship team leads music in the contemporary worship service each Sunday. The members of the worship team are musicians who are passionate about praising God and leading others into His presence. In the contemporary service you will hear cutting-edge, modern worship music infused with original worship songs and updated hymns. The worship team is supported by wonderful volunteers who assist with set-up and tear-down as well as lighting, sound and video needs. If you would like to get involved with the worship or technology teams, please contact Katie Heath for more information.
Handbell Choir
Periodically during the year, the handbell choir provides special music during the traditional worship service. Adults and youth combine to form this group of handbell ringers. No formal training is required. Persons interested in playing may contact Bonita Schwab for more information (270)776-1043.
Children’s Choir
Children age four through the fifth grade are invited to participate in the children’s choir. Periodically throughout the year, the children’s choir sings during both worship services. On Wednesday evenings during the school year, children’s choir practice is included as part of the children’s activities held between 6:15 and 7:00 at Disciples’ Diner. The children’s choir schedule may vary during holiday periods or for special events.
After School Programs
Music is an important part of the after school programs for children.
In May, the children in the after school programs present a program including music and more at an event celebrating what they have learned about God’s love during the year.
Special Music
At various times throughout the year, both worship services include additional instrumental or vocal selections by individuals or other groups. Persons willing to share their musical talent during worship are encouraged to contact Bonita Schwab (regarding the traditional worship service) or Katie Heath (regarding the contemporary worship service).
